Dreamscape 22nd Anniversary

Dreamscape 22nd Anniversary – Official Review

Dreamscape 22nd Anniversary at the Roadmender in Northampton on 23rd November 2013 was one of the very best events of the year so far and we have to say it was actually the closest we have seen to the original vibe that swept the UK in the 90s. Rave Music 90s have been reviewing events up and down the country in search of the very best raves and i have to say that these days, raves are just NOT like it was in the 90s when there were people buzzing outside the venue with the big queue’s that used to form before the venue had even opened BUT tonight was actually the closest we have seen to that type of vibe and excitement.

Ratpack 25th Anniversary

Ratpacks 25th Anniversary – Official Review

Rave Music 90s were delighted to be invited to Ratpacks 25th Anniversary at the Institute in Birmingham, After all we are Brummies and some of the best raves we ever went to back in the 90s were right here in the Midlands. Back in the day the Villa Leisure Centre, The Old Humming Bird and the Institute were big venues for the rave scene and there were lots of very special events held locally. These days we are up and down the country reviewing special events here, there and everywhere so to have such a special event locally and to be invited to Ratpacks 25th Anniversary at Birmingham’s legendary Institute was just brilliant. I have personally missed those very special Institute raves for a long time and i saw this one as quite a rare and very special Institute Rave.

Rebirth Creepshow

Rave Music 90s – Official Creepshow Review

It was an absolute pleasure to be invited to Rebirth’s Halloween Fancy Dress Creepshow in Telford on 2nd November 2013. Promoter David Beattie went all out in terms of production and this really was a very special night. Certainly one that the Rave music 90s crew will remember as one of the best we went to in 2013. This was different to anything we had been to before and the vibe and attitude of everyone in the venue was just brilliant.

The haunted house at the back of the stage was wicked, there were Zombies in the windows of the house trying to get out and the effect really was awesome. The lights and all the screens were crystal and then there was smoke machines, bubble machines and even people with the fire balls etc. It really was a great display and everyone was just having such a great time.

Pleasuredome 25th Anniversary – Official Review

Well we have been to some of the best events in and around the UK and have had some great nights out BUT when Rave music 90s were invited to Pleasuredomes 25th Anniversary at Fantasy Island on 12th October 2013 i personally got really excited because i know Fantasy Island really well and have spent a lot of time there over the years and i just couldnt wait to see what the Pleasuredome crew were going to do with such a great venue for there 25th Anniversary.

Firstly i need to give a special Thanks MC Keyes for inviting us to such a great show, We really do feel genuinely honoured that we have been invited to events by pretty much all the TOP UK Promoters and MC Keyes falls into the TOP UK Promoters category so massive thanks to you for putting the event on and for inviting the Rave Music 90s Crew to go along and share our honest opinions with our Rave Music 90s friends.

Fantazia Big Bang 2

Fantazia Big Bang 2 Official Review

Rave Music 90s were invited by Alex “Mr Fantazia” Energy to review this very special event at Bowlers in Manchester on 28th September 2013. One of the very first things we found really useful was the car parking facility, it was nice to be able to just drive to an event and park so close to the venue and with security looking after things out the front it was a great start to a spectacular show.

As we parked and began to get our things together we could here the music rocking from the out door stage and could see the a huge fair ground ride in the sky, we could also see crowds of people dancing and heading towards the entrance and i just looked at Mark and said this is going to be wicked mate. We waited for the que to die down and then made our way in to this very special event….

Payback & Silk Promotions – Aries & Friends Official Review

Saturday 21st September 2013 saw Ravemusic90s head over to Suki10c to review the Aries and Friends event after being invited by Payback and Silk Promotions. The venue is one of the smaller type party zones that can be found around the City centre Which we found quite refreshing and actually a lot more intimate compared to what we have been used to over the last few months. Rave music 90s were delighted to be invited to this one, below you can have an easy read and find out exactly what we thought of the event as well as checking out Exclusive Footage of the event in FULL swing along with an interview with Aries, Jackie Murda and David Boomah all of which were in outstanding form on the night…

We found the sound system to be almost perfect, the volume was a little lower than what we are used to but the quality of the sound was crystal clear which can sometimes go missing when the volumes are cranked up to the max. I would say if the volume was just turned up a touch more it really would have been absolutely perfect but local restrictions prevent this after 11pm and we didn’t get there till late as we were at the Underground sounds studio with the Jungle Citizenz prior to landing at this one.

back to 93 1st birthday party

Back To “93” 1st Birthday Party – Official Review

On Saturday the 7th September Rave Music 90s were invited to Tim Ryans Back to “93” 1st Birthday Party which was held at The institute in Birmingham City Centre. The line up looked wicked and we know that the last two events went really well so Mark and I grabbed the camera’s and headed back to the Institute for the first time in over 15 years…

I have to say that from memory the Institute looks very different on the inside these days compared to how it was back in the day, it has now been split into different arena’s and the old balcony that used to over look the main stage is no more. The 93 1st Birthday Party Rave had the main stage room for the Old Skool PLUS another room for Jungle DnB. I have personally spent a lot of time in The Institute over the years and i have to say it felt a little weird as i made my way into the event for the first time in a very long time..

Dreamscape Vs HTID Summer Gathering – Official Review

Dreamscape Summer Gathering 24th August 2013 Roadmender Northampton.

Rave Music 90s had the privilege of attending Dreamscape Vs HTID Summer Gathering and we have to say it really was a fantastic day and night to remember for everyone that was lucky enough to get in. We got there early as we wanted to have a good look around the venue while it was empty. We had a good walk round the venue and have to say that the set up was wicked and everyone was really friendly and helpful to us right from the moment that we got into the event.

The security were both friendly and professional which was really nice to see, We got our VIP wrist bands and naturally headed in to the VIP area to take a look at what was going on up there. The DJ area was set up to left as we walked in and the bar was at the other end wityh sofas and tables in between. The left side of the VIP over looks the downstairs room and bar area, there were HUGE HTID star shaped blow ups tied to the ceiling (the other side of VIP window and there was a wicked sofa in the VIP area which was bright pink and looked like a huge pair of lips.

Rave Music 90s Interview the Jungle Citizenz

Today we had the pleasure of hooking up with the hugely popular Birmingham crew Jungle Citizens for a quick interview. The up and coming Birmingham crew have recently been smashing it where ever they have been playing and really are becoming the most talked about Jungle/DnB crew through out the UK drum and bass rave scene.

Rave music 90s were delighted to be invited into the studio to have a quick chat with crew members DJ Beady, Craig Langman and Chris Rockz where we got close up and personal with the boys to find out more about the crew, including how it was formed, individual back grounds and there big plans for the future.

Rave Music 90s Meets Dreamscape

Rave music 90s meets with one the biggest rave promoters and genuine legends of the UKs 90s rave scene “Dreamscape” Its hard to believe but today i found myself sitting having a pint with the big man himself “Jim Tang”of the hugely popular and certainly my favourite rave promoter…”Dreamscape”

Jim knows everything about the times that we all loved so much, he is literally like a human rave encylopedia, having spent some time chatting with him, he clearly knows everything and everyone in the rave scene. We had loads to talk about and spent a good couple of hours chatting. Jim likes the ravemusic90s website and is now helping us develope our brand. Jim is a really cool guy and after just a few minutes i felt like i had known him forever.

Jumping Jack Frost

Jumping Jack Frost Capital Punishment

Jumping Jack Frost was one of my favourite DJs from back in the day. I have so many wicked sets from Jumping Jack Frost and his mixing was what i can only describe as clean and sharp. For me Jumping Jack Frost was kind of funky too, he also played all the best tunes and always put them together so well. Everyone always had there favourite DJs and debated who was the best and Jumping Jack Frost would be one of the names always mentioned in those types of conversations and is without doubt a rave music super heavy weight.

Ratpack

Ratpack Live at Eclipse

Make some noise for Ratpack in the house!!!!….. Another wicked original set from the legends known as Ratpack, recorded at the Eclipse in Coventry. Back in the day Eclipse was where it was at for me, i used to go there on a Friday night for the all night rave, during these days it was all whistles, Vicks vapour rub and Dubery oil.

Smiley faces were the trips and pink new yorkers were the special tablets that kept everyone going all night. Ratpack and the Eclipse played a big part in growing my love for rave msuic and the rave scene as back then everything was extraordinarily friendly and i used to just think to myself wow this is something else!!

Fabio Rave Music 90s – Infinity AVLC

Yeah Wicked Set Here from the ladies man, Yeah love Fabio his sets were usually always wicked and this one is a really good set recorded from Inifinity at the Aston Villa Leisure in 1992. Fabio was always towards the end of a rave which to me was like a gauge to there rating by the promoters, Basically the later you were on the higher you were rated. I have some really good stuff from Fabio and over the years i have been personally addicted to quite a few. With an F ana A ana B ana I ana O its FABIO!! Cant tell you how much i used to love fabio man, fabio is a legend if the Rave!!

Keith Suckling

Keith Suckling Nemesis 92

Keith Suckling Nemesis 92 – Rave music 90s. Here is a great set from Keith Suckling live at Nemesis 92 at the Aston Villa Leisure Centre. Keith Suckling was abit of a local so to speak as was the Villa leisure centre for me. Keith Suckling used to knock about with Doc Scott and together they made some wicked rave sets. I remember one night i got wrongly arrested…Basically there was a big fight and lots of police turned up and were just pinching people quite heavy handedly (if that’s a word) Anyway i had been for a game of snooker with a few lads and the police picked me up for carrying a weapon? I mean don’t get me wrong i was pretty good at snooker BUT i wouldnt call my cue a weapon lol.

Mickey Finn Bangin Tunes

Mickey Finn Bangin Tunes – Rave Music 90s

Mickey Finn Bangin Tunes – Rave Music 90s. Mickey Finn was a wicked DJ back in the day and was always at all the major events around the uk Rave scene in the 90s. Mickey Finn plays at Bangin Tunes in this Rave set and once again it is wicked stuff from Mickey Finn. Bangin Tunes were based in the Midlands and they were a pretty big outfit back in the day as an organiser, a Record Label, Live P.A and also sold a lot of merchandise too. I remember going to see Mickey Finn at the Institute in Birmingham and that was one of the best Mickey Finn Sets that ive ever heard. Bangin Tunes were the live P.A that night and they were wicked too.

Donovan Bad Boy Smith and Micky Finn. Donovan Bad Boy Smith and Micky Finn Were always down on the back of all major rave flyers and i have many tapes of both DJs individually, Between Donovan Bad Boy Smith and Micky Finn i was more of Micky finn fan BUT that is only because a lot my mates listened to Micky Finn more than Donovan so obvioulsy i got my hands on more Micky Finn than i did Donovan Bad Boy Smith.

Ratpack

Ratpack at Pandemonium

Ratpack Pandemonium 92 – Rave Music 90s. Ratpack at Pandemonium Ratpack were often the highlight of many of Raves back in the day, they always had the power to completely takeover and grab everyones attention. I remember seeing Ratpack at pandemonium and i will never forget the “This is the captain of your ship” tune wow Ratpack at Pandemonium was wicked lol. Its abit mad really when you think about it back then those times were wicked but now we all have kids and Mrs (And ex Missusis) etc in some ways i think its a shame that my kids will never experience what i experienced like Ratpack at Pandemonium. There is a part of me thinking im glad they wont experience a lot of things that i did BUT certain things like Ratpack at Pandemonium would be fine by me.

Rave Music 90s Doc Scott

Doc Scott Amnesia House

Rave Music 90s – As well as being a wicked Rave Music DJ Doc Scott was also a wicked producer too, Doc Scott actually produced a lot of favourite Chewns including shadow boxing and riders Ghost. When anyone made tunes in the Rave music scene and this includes Doc Scott all anyone really wanted was for Grooverider to like it and it has to be said that Grooverider always played Doc Scott tunes and if the God Father of Rave Music gives the thumbs up you just have to accept the fact that Doc Scott is a Rave Music legend.

Rave Music Grooverider Top Buzz Dreamscape 2

Grooverider & Top Buzz Dreamscape 2

Grooverider Top Buzz Dreamscape 2 – Rave Music 90s. I remember we all used to love this Grooverider & Top Buzz set with Mad P. I remember Stubbsy used to have what i call a rasta blaster and all the best rave music lol and then quite a few would have there own walkmans. (Tripping) anyway i reckon we must have learnt the MCs lyrics word for word on this one, we listened to it that much. Oh them days man…… Peter piper picked a pickled pepper… The pepper is hot BUT the Buzz is Hotter !!! Rave Music back then for me was the best ever AND everyone was Grooverider mad!!

Rave Music 90s Grooverider Amnesia House

Grooverider Amnesia House

Grooverider Amnesia House- Rave Music 90s This set is filled with lots of classic Rave Music tunes and once again Grooverider shows why in most peoples eyes he was the best Rave Music DJ around. As you are probably aware Grooverider was wicked back in the day and was always top of the list as the main attraction when reading the back of all the Rave Music flyers.

When it came to Rave Music most producers just wanted Grooverider to like there stuff. Most producers would just look for a thumbs up from Grooverider and thats all most rave music producers and DJs really cared about. Grooverider himself produced some great stuff too especially on the enforcers label i think you know what im talking about!

Rave Music Grooverider Dance Trance 93

Rave Music 90s – grooverider Dance Trance 93. This is another great set by Grooverider from 1993 with Man Parris who was probably my favourite mc in Rave Music. There are some great tunes to be heard on this set. Dance Trance were another big promoter in the wonderful world of Rave Music and i myself witnessed some wicked events from those guys.

Out of all of the Dance Trance Raves my favourite was Capital Punishment..wow that really was a great night and for me is the one that sticks out the most from the Dance Trance party people.

Frankie Valentine Eclipse 1992

Rave Music 90s – Frankie Valentine Eclipse 92 Yes back in the day the Eclipse was my favourite place to go and get smashed whilst listening to my beloved Rave Music. I also saw Frankie Valentine at one of the Big Bad Head Raves too and once again he was top draw. I know you know BUT it does have to be said that although Grooverider was the official Daddy of Rave Music there were some serious contenders and wicked mixers out there in the 90s. Frankie Valentine sets were always wicked and the rave music he played was abit different. he had all the big bangers BUT it was like smooth and in a proper Zone (or was that just me lol)

Grooverider Dreamscape 3 1992

Rave Music 90s – Grooverider Dreamscape 3 Grooverider was known as the Godfather of Rave music and everyone who was into rave music always wanted to have all the latest Grooverider tapes and i suppose i was no different.

As far as Rave Music goes the early Dreamscapes were brilliant they had all the top DJ’s and it was a time when Rave music was Rave music. I mean Rave music back then was just simply brilliant it was like something had come from no where to give us all something to do. Everyone was spinning the decks and buying the latest tunes and sharing mixes etc.
